Another successful Gingerbread House Building Party at the showroom.
The winner of the Rumson Education Foundations annual fundraiser, "A Celebration for Education" came in this week with their 10 children. They built their gingerbread houses, ate pizza and LOTS of candy (opps!) Left with icing on their cloths and in their hair........You were all great fun.
We can't wait for next year to do it all again. Who will the lucky kids be?

Maple: A finely grained hardwood favored for its distinctive burl patterns.
Heartwood Maple: The rustic natural maple look including mineral streaks, checks, and a heavier burl, which is usually the wood from the center of the tree.
Oak: Hardwood that is valued for its resilience and prominent grain and strength.
Pine: A warm softwood with swirling grain and random knots, purposely distressed to give it an antique look.
There is also decorative rattan, herringbone, olive ash burl, and bird's eye Maple veneers as inserts.

Pure Bond: Formaldehyde Free Technology
Indoor air quality has become increasingly appreciated, and that is why Pure Bond technology is coming to the forefront. Pure Bond is formaldehyde free hardwood plywood that can make a great difference in the air quality of your home. Believe it or not, the air quality inside your home can be more polluted than the air outside. This is extremely important because the average American is spending about 85% of their time indoors. According to the EPA, the indoors of a home, depending on location, is two to five times more polluted. Pure Bond is non-toxic and is cost competitive with formaldehyde based plywood. It is easy to get high quality cabinetry and other furniture without the risk of fromaldehyde.
The company stays green starting by having professional forresters work with landowners to develop timber plans that assure long time health of the forrested property. In addition, at the mills, they recycle scrap for fuel in the furnaces and sell residual materials to others who use it for mulch or other products. This veneer core hardwood is widely recognized by builders and designers in green building projects.
The Signature Collection uses Pure Bond materials for all of its products, and encourages the desire for clean indoor air! Come check out the Signature collection at our showroom!

Top Ways to Improve Your Countertops
The value of a homeowner's kitchen significantly increases when the countertops are remodeled. Choosing the perfect countertop is a major consideration for remodeling, making the decision somewhat difficult.
Granite is the most commonly used countertop although pricing can be competitive. There are many different styles of granite, making it an elegant upgrade for a kitchen. Granite kitchen countertops come in over 3,000 colors and grains, while also lasting for a lifetime.
Quartz countertops resemble granite but are created through a manufacturing process. The colors available using quartz surpass those of granite. On another note, quartz is also more sanitary than granite because it doesnt allow germs to stay on the surface, and food/drink cannot damage the finish.
Following these popular choices comes marble. Although marble is soft and can stain much more easily than granite and quartz it is good for a bathroom remodel. Marble has been used forever and people appreciate the usage. Fancy details can easily be created with marble and the slab cuts beautifully whereas granite and quartz chip much more easily. Although it is a softer surface it is still durable and can withstand daily grind. On top of that, marble is great as a work surface and is also heat resistant.
Wood countertops have fallen more out of the picture as stone countertops have flourished. Wood creates great work stations in the kitchen and can come is many different stains and types. You can always change the look of the wood with different stains and as the wood gets older it takes on a unique look creating a focal point in the kitchen.
For a modern look stainless steel can be used as a countertop surface. With being an easy clean and very durable it is perfect for a more commercial look. Like marble, the stainless steel is heat resistant which is an advantage in the kitchen. This surface also has a reflective quality which balances light well, therefore making a smaller kitchen seem larger and more inviting.
There are various countertop options which allows homeowners to highlight their kitchens in their own style. From granite to stainless steel, new countertops make kitchens and bathrooms more inviting and increase the value of the home. Using a balance of more than one type of countertop can also be very appealing.
