Top Ways to Improve Your Countertops

The value of a homeowner's kitchen significantly increases when the countertops are remodeled. Choosing the perfect countertop is a major consideration for remodeling, making the decision somewhat difficult.

Granite is the most commonly used countertop although pricing can be competitive. There are many different styles of granite, making it an elegant upgrade for a kitchen. Granite kitchen countertops come in over 3,000 colors and grains, while also lasting for a lifetime.

Quartz countertops resemble granite but are created through a manufacturing process. The colors available using quartz surpass those of granite. On another note, quartz is also more sanitary than granite because it doesnt allow germs to stay on the surface, and food/drink cannot damage the finish.

Following these popular choices comes marble. Although marble is soft and can stain much more easily than granite and quartz it is good for a bathroom remodel. Marble has been used forever and people appreciate the usage. Fancy details can easily be created with marble and the slab cuts beautifully whereas granite and quartz chip much more easily. Although it is a softer surface it is still durable and can withstand daily grind. On top of that, marble is great as a work surface and is also heat resistant.

Wood countertops have fallen more out of the picture as stone countertops have flourished. Wood creates great work stations in the kitchen and can come is many different stains and types. You can always change the look of the wood with different stains and as the wood gets older it takes on a unique look creating a focal point in the kitchen.

For a modern look stainless steel can be used as a countertop surface. With being an easy clean and very durable it is perfect for a more commercial look. Like marble, the stainless steel is heat resistant which is an advantage in the kitchen. This surface also has a reflective quality which balances light well, therefore making a smaller kitchen seem larger and more inviting.

There are various countertop options which allows homeowners to highlight their kitchens in their own style. From granite to stainless steel, new countertops make kitchens and bathrooms more inviting and increase the value of the home. Using a balance of more than one type of countertop can also be very appealing.
